Covid-19 in Puglia | 20 July Bulletin

This morning’s Quotidiano di Puglia - one of the region’s main newspapers - reports that Puglia is on alert following a spike in new coronavirus infections, all of whom are visitors recently arrived from abroad.

In the last 24-hours seven new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed, bringing the total of new infections in our region over the last 3-days to fifteen, representing an increase of almost 25% of current cases.

In terms of the impact the pandemic has had on travel to Puglia the newspaper confirms that visitors to Puglia this July have halved compared with 2019.

“Italians are still coming, but the [travel] market in Europe is in crisis; the British are not coming, there are Germans, Swiss, Belgians, but - Germany aside - we are talking about smaller countries”, says the Quotidiano.

If you are travelling to Puglia in the next few weeks be sure to keep up to date with official advice on travelling to Italy and the position on travelling to Puglia in particular.
